This is a 1-day (8 hour) course focusing on the essential techniques of deploying white light in conjunction with a pistol. It provides in-depth instruction on handheld lighting techniques, along with weapons mounted lighting techniques. Designed for shooters who are familiar with weapons manipulation and safety in low light environments, this course emphasizes the deployment of your pistol, while understanding the primary flashlight applications, techniques and search methods on the handgun platform. 

Participants will also dive into weapons and equipment manipulations, human anatomy and SNS response and principles of low light tactics and movement on the range. Drills will include low light handheld flashlight techniques, threat identification, Shoot/No-Shoot drills, unorthodox shootings positions as they relate to using cover and concealment.

Students will focus on these critical low light skills and will receive ample amount of practical application in a low light environment.

LOCATION: Desoto County Sheriff’s Office range complex, 204 Heritage Drive, Holly Springs, MS

TIME: Training will begin at 3PM and conclude approximately 11PM

Required Equipment:

  • Handgun with at least 3 magazines (5 if single stack) and appropriate number of magazine pouches
  • Handheld light (mandatory) Weapons Mounted Light (optional, but recommended)
  • 400 rounds of pistol ammunition
  • Holster must attach via the belt (paddle holsters are not allowed). Holsters must provide an active or passive retention device and be able to keep the holster in place while running or moving in and out of awkward positions. No SERPA or Vanguard type holsters.
  • Eye protection and hearing protection (electronic hearing protections is recommended)
  • Full duty belt / tactical loadout (your normal work setup) or concealment holster.
  • Handheld flashlight(s), extra batteries and clear eye protection for low light work.
  • Headlamp is strongly recommended.
  • 2 chem lights (any color).
  • Notepad, pen, perm marker
  • Multi tool (Multitasker / Gerber / Leatherman).
  • IFAK (Trauma Kit) IFAK and/or Tourniquet is REQUIRED
  • Water and snacks.

Recommended Equipment:

  • Inclement weather gear (e.g. rain gear)
  • Kneepads

Terms:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must able to legally carry a firearm.
  • Must be able to demonstrate and employ safe weapons handling during courses of fire.
  • We shoot rain or shine – dress accordingly.
  • A signed waiver of liability will be required before training begins.
  • Loaner equipment may be available, but must be arranged ahead of time to guarantee
    availability. This includes rifles, squeeze bags, etc.
  • Tuition will not be refunded for a student cancellation. If you provide at least seven days notice that you will not attend the course for which you registered, you may apply your tuition towards a future course within 12 months and provided there are openings available. If there is a waiting list for a class and we are able to fill your slot upon cancellation, we will issue you a full refund, minus a 10% processing fee.
  • In the unlikely event Zero Theory cancels your course, you will be offered the option of a refund or tuition credit.
